Our Mission
Big Shoulders exists to raise awareness of abuse in all its forms — physical, emotional, sexual, financial, coercive, and more — and to ensure that victims, survivors, families, friends, and professionals have access to clear, compassionate, and actionable information.
We believe that awareness is one of the most powerful tools in tackling abuse. When people understand what abuse looks like, they are better equipped to recognise it, seek help, and support others.
The name "Big Shoulders" reflects the idea of being a strong, steady presence — offering support to those who carry the weight of abuse, whether as a victim or as someone standing alongside them.
A note on our content: The information on this site is intended for awareness and signposting purposes. We always encourage people to contact trained professionals and specialist services for personalised support. All helpline information is reviewed regularly to ensure accuracy.
